Please join me in welcoming Chad Phillips as the head coach for Allatoona men’s basketball. Coach Phillips is a native of Santa Clarita Valley, California and brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Buccaneers. During his tenure at the helm of both Canyon and Valencia High Schools, Coach Phillips compiled over 200 victories, five league championships, and 15 state tournament appearances, including two elite 8 appearances and a trip to the final 4. Coach Phillips has helped develop more than a dozen players to continue their basketball careers on the collegiate level.
Coach Phillips believes that success should occur in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and he has been recognized for that as well. While at Canyon High School, he was named teacher of the year for his entire district for the 2012-13 school year. Coach Phillips will join the Allatoona faculty as a math teacher who strongly believes that the classroom comes 1st. He stresses the importance of academic excellence, integrity, and sportsmanship with his athletes and students alike, and he believes in promoting a family friendly atmosphere that puts players and students 1st in all things.
Coach Phillips will be available Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in room 1205 to meet with any players who are interested in participating in basketball next season. That same evening, we invite the parents to the high school media center at 6:30, where they will have a chance to meet Coach Phillips and the rest of his family; wife Jen, and sons Cayden (13), Camden (12), Kellen (10), Kolin (8), and Kasten (4). During this meeting, no information about the upcoming summer will be shared. That information will become available over the next few weeks.
We hope to see you all Wednesday evening as we get ready for the next era of Allatoona Men’s Basketball.
